South Korean company contracted for Uzbekistan’s project feasibility study

South Korea's ICT Technologies company has won a contract to work out a feasibility study for the project of establishing the National Geographic Information System of Uzbekistan, the State Committee on Land Resources, Geodesy, Cartography and State Cadastre told Trend.

"ICT Technologies will complete working out a feasibility study for the project by late 2015 as part of the contract worth $ 25 million," a representative of the committee said.

The representative said that then the tender for the supply of software and hardware will be announced.

It was previously reported that it is planned to create a multi-purpose information system to ensure the single national complex registration and evaluation of natural and economic potential of the country and its individual areas as part of the project, approved by the president's decree in 2014.

It was also reported that the system would also envisage promptly providing the state authoritative and administrative bodies, legal and physical entities with cadastral information necessary for their activity.

The project envisages creating a satellite geodetic network, a unified computerized state cadastre and real estate registration system.

The Export-Import Bank of Korea allocated a $15 million preferential loan to Uzbekistan's government through South Korea's Economic Development Cooperation Fund for the implementation of the project with the total cost of $30.87 million. The loan has been allocated for a 40-year period, including a 10-year grace period.

Uzbekistan's contribution to the project's implementation is $15.87 million of which $6.05 million is in the form of exemption from taxes and customs duties.

It is planned to complete the project in 2017.
