The Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization will hold an international conference on the fight against terrorism and extremism in Tashkent in October 2015, the structure told Trend Sept. 18.

The representatives of the competent bodies of the member-states and observers under the SCO will attend the conference. The representatives of India and Pakistan were invited for the event.

The invitations for attending the conference were delivered during the negotiations held by the management of the Executive Committee of the Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in the diplomatic missions of India and Pakistan in Tashkent.

The sides exchanged views on important regional security issues, including the growing threat to stability in Central and South Asia posed by the international terrorists, particularly, Islamic State and Taliban movement.

The SCO includes Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, China, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. It was previously announced that a meeting of heads of SCO member-states was held in Ufa (Russia) in July 2015. A decision was made to increase the number of its participants. The documents on admitting India and Pakistan were signed. Belarus became an observer. Azerbaijan, Armenia, Cambodia and Nepal became the dialogue partners.

Afghanistan, Iran, Mongolia are the SCO observer-countries, while Turkey, Sri Lanka are dialogue partners.

The Executive Committee is based in Tashkent.
