South Korean bank interested in co-op with Uzbekistan

The issues related to developing the investment partnership between Uzbekistan and the Export-Import Bank of South Korea were discussed by Uzbekistan's President Islam Karimov and the bank's president Lee Duk-Hoon, Uzbek presidency said.

Lee Duk-Hoon said the Export-Import Bank of South Korea and the country's business circles are interested in developing mutually beneficial and long-term cooperation with Uzbekistan.

This bank is one of the key partners of Uzbekistan and Asia-Pacific region participating in the implementation of the strategic projects in the country. Projects totaling $935 million have been implemented in Uzbekistan with the bank's funds since 1999.

Currently, projects totaling $1.2 billion are being implemented and around $900 million worth projects are being worked out in Uzbekistan with the financial support of the Export-Import Bank.

In particular, South Korea's Export-Import Bank is one of the main creditors for constructing Ustyurt Gas Chemical Complex at Surgil deposit. The bank has allocated $1 billion for this project's implementation.
