The meeting with Head of Permanent Representation of the International Road Transport Union (IRU) in the Eurasia Dmitry Cheltsov, who arrived to Ashgabat on a working visit, took place at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, said the message of the Turkmen government.

During the talks the sides discussed the issues of cooperation development in transport sphere between Turkmenistan and IRU.

The parties noted their commitment to the constructive proposals of President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhammadov on enhancing international cooperation in the transport and communication sector. The parties expressed their willingness in developing cooperation in this direction, including within the framework of the United Nations.

In conclusion of the meeting the parties noted the successful holding of presentations on pre-project study on the construction of a model highway in Turkmenistan and expressed interest in further development of bilateral cooperation in this direction.

It was reported in September that the Memorandum of Understanding for the development of the Euro-Asian road transport links across the territory of Turkmenistan was signed between the government of Turkmenistan and International Road Transport Union (IRU) in Ashgabat.

IRU represents the interests of motor carriers of Europe, America, Asia, Africa. The organization consists of over 180 members from 74 countries.
