Russia and Turkey have no problems with construction of Akkuyu nuclear power plant, Anadolu agency reported citing Turkey's Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Ali Riza Alaboyun.

Turkey attaches great importance to the Akkuyu power plant to be constructed in accordance with the Russian project.

Earlier, Turkey's President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that other countries can build the Akkuyu plant, if Russia refuses to.

Turkey's Energy Market Regulatory Authority issued a three-year provisional license to Akkuyu Nuclear Project company in June 2015 for generating electricity at Akkuyu power plant.

The intergovernmental agreement was signed in 2010 between Russia and Turkey to cooperate for its construction and operation.

The project's cost is nearly $20 billion.

The Akkuyu plant is projected to generate about 35 billion kilowatt hours of electricity per year.
