A ceremony of signing documents on financing the construction of the third airport in Turkey's Istanbul city has been held in the country, TRT Haber TV channel reported Oct.19.

Only local banks take part in financing the construction of this airport.

Turkey's Ziraat Bankasi will allocate 1.54 billion euros, while Halkbank and Vakifbank - 1 billion euros, Denizbank - 500 million euros, Garanti and Finansbank - 300 million euros, according to the report.

The loan has been allocated for 16 years with grace period of four years.

Earlier, the air transport department of Turkish Ministry of Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communications told Trend that the construction of this airport will cost 10 billion Turkish liras.

The official exchange rate set by Turkey's Central Bank on Oct.19 is 2.8978 TRY/USD.

Limak-Kolin-Cengiz-MaPa-Kalyon consortium of companies won the tender for construction of the airport by offering 22.1 billion euros for participation in the project.

The third airport will be commissioned in Turkey in early 2018. It is being built near the Lake Terkos in the north of Istanbul.

Initially, the airport will serve 90 million passengers per year and further, this figure will increase to 150 million.

This airport is expected to be one of the largest ones in the world and will be named after the country's President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
