Georgian medicine supply to Azerbaijan increases

The value of medicine exports from Georgia to Azerbaijan rose by 8.4 percent from January to September, and reached $22.8 million, according to a foreign trade report issued by Georgia's National Statistics Office.

In quantitative terms, medicine exports from Georgia to Azerbaijan grew during this period by 463.9 tons, or 28.45 percent, standing at almost 2,100 tons.

Medicines accounted for 11.5 percent of total exports to Azerbaijan.

For comparison, 1,630.7 tons of medicines in almost $21.1 million were exported from Georgia to Azerbaijan in January-September 2014.

Some 23.65 percent of the medicines exported by Georgia go to Azerbaijan.

During the first nine months of 2015, Georgia exported medicines worth $96.56 million.

Meanwhile, in January-September 2015, Azerbaijan imported goods worth $199.14 million from Georgia, or 2.1 times less than the same period last year.

Azerbaijan ranks first in terms of good imports from Georgia.

The second place on this indicator is held by Bulgaria ($165.8 million), and the third place - by Turkey ($145.8 million).

Cars, medicines, cattle and steel fittings are the main items exported from Georgia to Azerbaijan.
