The carbamide plant of SOCAR (State Oil Company of Azerbaijan) will be commissioned in Sumgait in late 2017-early 2018, Rovnag Abdullayev, SOCAR president, told reporters Oct. 30.
He said that the plant is being constructed on schedule.
"I think that the plant will be put into operation in late 2017-early 2018," he said. "The Korean Eximbank delivered a short-term loan to implement the project. At present, the talks on drawing the main long-term loan are being held with the bank. The relevant contract is being prepared. The negotiations will be completed by late 2015."
Currently, the Korean Samsung Engineering deals with the detailed design of the plant.
The plant, which will consist of the sectors producing ammonia, liquid and granulated carbamide, is expected to produce 2,000 metric tons of carbamide per day.
"Azerkimya" is a part of SOCAR. It includes the Ethylene-Polyethylene plant, the plant of surfactants, the Organic Synthesis plant, the mechanical repair plant; the Kimyaelmitedgigatlayihe Institute; the repair and construction department; the transport and special equipment department; warehousing.
