EBRD to continue supporting private entrepreneurship in Turkmenistan

Officials of Turkmenistan's Foreign Ministry held a meeting with the delegation from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), led by Natalia Khanjenkova, the bank's managing director for Turkey and Central Asia, according to a statement by the Turkmenistan government.

During the meeting, the participants exchanged views on the prospects for developing relations between Turkmenistan and the EBRD. They also praised the results of their joint work and expressed their commitment to improve the ongoing cooperation.

Moreover, the sides expressed their readiness to continue the joint work being carried out in ongoing projects and programs aimed at supporting private entrepreneurship.

Earlier, EBRD representatives said the bank intends to boost its cooperation with dynamically developing Turkmenistan, which plays an important role in the region's sustainable development.

Energy, transport and communications, agriculture, small and medium-sized business, construction and production of construction materials, insurance, education and science were named as promising areas of cooperation between the EBRD and Turkmenistan.

Additionally, the EBRD has allocated a credit line to Turkmenistan to support private entrepreneurship in the country and focus on providing financing to the production and service industries.
