Azerbaijan and Belarus are able to increase the tourist flow, Rufat Mammadov, the president of the Azerbaijan Export and Investment Promotion Foundation (AZPROMO) told reporters following the Belarusian-Azerbaijani business forum in Minsk Nov. 27, BELTA reported.

"I know that a lot of our tourists visit Belarus and not only Minsk," he said. "Azerbaijan and Belarus have the opportunity to increase a mutual tourist flow, because both countries have something to present each other."

A memorandum on cooperation in the sphere of tourism will be signed between the Belorussian biggest tour operator CentreKurort and the Azerbaijan Health and Thermal Tourism Support Association Nov. 27.

"The company, which will sign an agreement on our part, is one of the largest in the area of rendering the tourism services in Azerbaijan," he said. "I think this document will give an additional impetus to increase the tourist flow."

While talking about other promising areas of cooperation, Mammadov stressed a plenty of areas.

The matter rests in the cooperation in agriculture and agro-industry, mechanical engineering, pharmaceuticals, financial sector.

"The information technologies must be also mentioned," he said. "The industry is being actively developed in Azerbaijan. Perhaps, it will become one of the main areas in our economy. I think the same situation is in Belarus. There is a great potential for developing the cooperation, as well as the interest of both countries."

The prospects for developing the trade-economic and investment cooperation are being considered at the business forum.

The talks about the possibilities of cooperation and implementation of joint projects in the fields of mechanical engineering, petrochemicals, metallurgy, construction and architecture, agriculture, software development, transport and tourism have been held.

Over 40 companies from Azerbaijan are involved in the event.
