Iran’s iron ore concentrate output slightly rises

Iran's major state-run iron ore producing companies have produced about 19.364 million tons of iron ore concentrate during the first nine months of current Iranian fiscal year (March 21-Dec. 21, 2015).

The figure indicates a one-percent increase compared to the same period of the previous year which was 19.12 million tons, the Islamic Republic's Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO) reported Jan. 24.

Gol Gohar ranked first among the companies producing 7.6 million tons of iron ore concentrate followed by Chadormalou with 6.57 million tons of production.

Markazi (2.762 million tons), Middle East Mines Industries Development Holding Company (1.776 million tons) and Sangan (650,400 tons) were other state-run iron ore concentrate producers.

The aforementioned companies (excluding Middle East Mines Industries Development Holding Company) plus Jalalabad, Mishdavan, Sirjan and the Iranian Central Plateau Iron Ore Mines Complex, produced 5.569 million tons of iron ore granule in total, during the 9-month period, 30 percent less year on year.

The report does not include the volume of produced iron ore by private sector companies, which in total produce 14 million metric tons of iron ore annually.

Iran's iron ore reserve stands at 5.1 billion tons, of which 2.8 billion tons are proven.
