Azerbaijan's draft law on "Anti-Dumping, Compensation and Protective Actions" will help protect local producers from dumping of goods (their import at a price less than their value) and subsidized imports, said Sahil Babayev, Azerbaijani deputy minister of economy.

Babayev made the remarks at a meeting of the parliamentary committee on economic policy, enterprise and industry Feb. 9.

He said the draft law envisages the measures that will help reveal the dumping cases.

"In particular, it is offered to increase the customs duty on import of such goods to the country by the amount of the dumping margin, if such cases are revealed," he said.

Babayev added that four directives of the World Trade Organization (WTO) have been used while working out the draft law.

The draft law was recommended for consideration at a plenary session of the Azerbaijani parliament.
