The Uzbek finance ministry approved new electricity tariffs, to be used from April 1, 2016, Uzbekenergo state joint-stock company said March 17.
In particular, the cost of one kilowatt hour (kWh) of electricity supplied to the population will increase by 8.7 percent from current 167.4 sums up to 182 sums, but in the houses equipped with electric stoves - by 9.1 percent from 83.4 sums to 91 sums.
The official exchange rate is 2866,75 sum/$ 1 as of March 17.
Earlier, the electricity tariffs increased in October 2015 and the cost of one kWh of electricity increased by eight percent.
It was previously reported that cold water tariffs will also increase by 5.7 percent, central heating and hot water tariffs by nine percent from April 1, 2016.
