Uzbekistan increases cargo transportation volume

The total volume of cargo transportation in Uzbekistan via all types of transport increased by 5.1 percent in 2015, compared to 2014 year and stood at 1.534 billion tons, according to the country's State Committee on Statistics.

The cargo turnover in the country rose by 3.7 percent and totaled 88.87 billion tons per kilometer.

The major part of cargo transportation accounted for the road transport - 91.2 percent, pipelines and railway - 4.4 percent each and air transport - 0.002 percent.

The cargo transportation via the road transport has increased by 5.4 percent and stood at 1.399 billion tons, railway - 3 percent (67.7 million tons), fuel pumping via the main pipelines - 3 percent (67.8 million tons), air transport - 6.2 percent (24,500 tons).

The cargo turnover via the road transport rose by 7.9 percent in 2015 and totaled 33.934 billion tons per kilometer, air transport - 4.8 percent (131 million tons per kilometer), while the cargo turnover via the railway transport remained at 2014 level - 22.936 billion tons per kilometer.

Passenger transportation in Uzbekistan increased by 3.6 percent in 2015 and stood at 7.59 billion people, while the passenger turnover rose by 5.7 percent and totalled 105.8 billion passengers per kilometer.

Road transport accounted for the major part of passenger transportation (98.9 percent), while its share in the passenger turnover totalled 89.6 percent.

In total, 7.503 billion passengers were transported via the road transport in Uzbekistan in 2015.
