Turkey’s tourism income reduced by 16.5 percent in the first quarter of 2016, as compared to the same period of 2015

Turkey's tourism income reduced by 16.5 percent in the first quarter of 2016, as compared to the same period of 2015, said the report issued by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat) Apr. 29.

The country's tourism income totaled $4.66 billion during the reporting period, said the report.

It was noted that the number of departing visitors reduced by 4.4 percent in the first quarter of 2016, as compared to the same period of 2015.

Turkey's Touristic Hotels and Investors Association (TUROB) said earlier that the number of hotel reservations in Turkey has dropped by 13.4 percent in the first quarter of 2016, compared to the same period in 2015.

The country's revenues from tourism totaled $31.5 billion in 2015, or 8.3 percent less than in 2014.
