Gold production increases in Kazakhstan

The gold ore production in Kazakhstan increased by 9.2 percent and stood at 5.9 million tons in January-April 2016, said the Energyprom.kz analytical service.

The gold ore production in the country is growing rapidly. The production in this sphere has increased by 19.8 percent in 2015, as compared to 2014.

This is while the production of gold concentrate dropped by 1.7 percent in January-April 2016 and stood at 75,500 tons.

The decrease in the gold concentrate production has been observed since 2014 when the production dropped by 35.9 percent as compared to 2013. It decreased by 53.8 percent in 2015, as compared to 2014.

The production of unwrought and semi-manufactured gold increased from 17.9 tons in January-April 2015 to 21.5 tons in the same period in 2016.

The production of unwrought and semi-manufactured gold has increased by 6 percent in 2013, by 16.1 percent in 2014 and 29.5 percent in 2015. This is while the fine gold production has decreased by 3.1 percent and stood at 9.8 percent in January-April 2016.

The Energyprom.kz analytical service said that Russia's Polymetal company plans to become the second largest gold producer in Kazakhstan by producing a total of 13 tons of gold per year at Varvara and Kyzyl fields by 2020.
