The production of glass products in Turkmenistan is one of the strategic directions of producing the building materials for export, the country's government said June 21.
A float glass production technology has been the basis of the project, which has been implemented in the Ovadandepe area of the Turkmen Akhal district since early 2016. A factory for the production of quartz sand, used as the main raw material for glass production, is being built in the Ovadandepe area.
The plant with a capacity of 7.2 million square meters of glass per year is designed to produce seven kinds of glass products, including medicine bottles.
"The commissioning of the enterprise will significantly reduce imports of the appropriate product," a statement said.
Turkish Tere Turkmen Insaat ve Ticaret Anonim Sirketi company has been charged with the construction.
