The inflation hit 4.2 percent in Kazakhstan since early 2016 compared to 1.5 percent in the same period of 2015, the Kazakh National Bank said June 22.

According to the bank, food prices have increased by 4.3 percent, non-food items – by 4.2 percent, paid services - by 4 percent since early 2016.

The bank said that the inflation hit 16.7 percent from May 2015 to May 2016.

At the same time, food prices increased by 13.5 percent, non-food items - by 27.3 percent, paid services - by 10.3 percent for the year, the bank added.

According to the bank, the inflation amounted to 0.5 percent in Kazakhstan in May.

Food prices increased by 0.4 percent, non-food items - by 0.7 percent, tariffs for paid services increased by 0.5 percent, the bank added.
