The Kazakh National Bank does not exclude the reduction of the base rate, the bank said in a message.
“Along with sustainability of positive trends and the decrease of risks, we do not exclude the decrease in the base rate,” Daniyar Akishev, chairman of the Kazakh national bank, said at a press-conference.
Akishev said that a structural liquidity surplus is being observed in the Kazakh money market and interest rates are at the low level of the interest rate corridor, targeted by the bank.
The base rate has amounted to 15 percent in Kazakhstan since early May. Earlier, the rate hit 17 percent. The next decision on the base rate will be announced on July 11.
