Turkey’s tourism revenues drop by over 35%

Turkey’s revenues from tourism have decreased by 35.6 percent in the second quarter of 2016, as compared to the same period in 2015, Turkish Statistical Institute said July 29.

The country’s revenues from tourism were less than $5 billion during the reporting period. The number of tourists visiting Turkey in the second quarter of 2016 has decreased by 30.3 percent, as compared to the same period in 2015.

Turkish Statistical Institute said that 29.6 million tourists visited the country in 2015 and 12.4 million of them visited Istanbul city.

Turkey’s revenues from tourism stood at 31.5 billion in 2015, or 8.3 percent less than in 2014.
