Majority of Kazakhstan’s population expect further inflation, according to the survey conducted among Kazakhstan’s residents in all the regions of the country

Majority of Kazakhstan’s population expect further inflation, according to the survey conducted among Kazakhstan’s residents in all the regions of the country, Kazakh National bank reported on Aug. 4.

As much as 47.1 percent of people interviewed in July expect moderate increase in prices for food, non-food, and paid services in August. 11.2 percent of them expect sharp increase in prices, 22.2 percent think that the prices will not change. As much as 5 percent of the interviewed people said that they expected prices to decrease in August, 14.5 percent are undecided.

As much as 22.1 percent of the voters think that prices will increase by over 20 percent in Kazakhstan in the next 12 months, 17.8 percent of the voters expect 16-20 percent rise in prices. 11-15 percent inflation is expected by 15.5 percent of the interviewed people, 25.2 percent inflation – by 25.2 percent of the interviewed. A much as 9.2 percent of the voters believe that prices will increase by 1-5 percent in the next 12 months, 9.7 percent are undecided.

GfK Kazakhstan conducts survey on inflation expectations since January 2016. Monthly the company polls 1,500 adult respondents in all the regions of the country.

Inflation rate in Kazakhstan hit 5.2 percent in Jan.- July 2016, according to the Statistics Committee of the Ministry of National Economy of Kazakhstan reported.
