The next meeting of the Azerbaijan-UAE (United Arab Emirates) intergovernmental commission on trade and economic cooperation will be held Nov. 28-29 in Abu-Dhabi, Azerbaijan’s Ambassador in the UAE Dashgin Shikarov told Trend Oct. 3.

Azerbaijani delegation led by the commission’s co-chairs from the Azerbaijani side, the country’s Economy Minister Shahin Mustafayev will discuss prospects of development of the two countries’ relations in trade and economic sphere during the meeting, said Shikarov.

The creation of the free trade zone in Azerbaijan’s Alat settlement will also be discussed during the meeting.

The meeting’s agenda also includes issues of mutual investing, cooperation in transportation, information and communication, tourism and other spheres.

Shahin Mustafayev said previously that over the seven months of 2016, the trade turnover between Azerbaijan and the UAE increased by more than 40 percent.

This is a good indicator, considering that processes taking place in the world don’t contribute to the development of trade between the countries, noted the minister adding that governments of Azerbaijan and the UAE conduct work to improve these indicators.

The cooperation between Azerbaijan and the UAE was established on mutually beneficial basis and it has an active nature. There is a joint intergovernmental commission on economic, trade and technical cooperation, Baku-Dubai Cooperation Council, Baku-Abu Dhabi Cooperation Council and Azerbaijan-UAE Business Council.

About 300 business structures with the participation of Azerbaijani capital operate in the UAE.

Since November 2015, Azerbaijan simplified the visa regime for citizens of the UAE and this step led to the increase in number of tourists from the UAE to Azerbaijan.
