The Azerbaijani delegation will visit Iran in October to review the construction of the Rasht-[Iranian] Astara railway, Azerbaijani Minister of Economy Shahin Mustafayev said.
He made the remarks Oct. 4 at a meeting with Iran’s Interior Minister Abdolreza Rahmani Fazli in Baku, Azerbaijan’s Economy Ministry reported.
Rasht-Astara railway is a part of the International North-South Transport Corridor.
Speaking about relations between the two countries, Mustafayev noted the increase of interest to Azerbaijan’s economy by Iranian entrepreneurs, as well as the growth of tourists from Iran, who visit Azerbaijan.
The economy minister has invited Iranian businessmen, especially from the provinces of East Azerbaijan and Gilan, to take advantage of favorable conditions created in industrial neighborhoods and parks of Azerbaijan.
New Ambassador of Iran to Azerbaijan Javad Jahangirzadeh, heads of the provinces of East Azerbaijan and Gilan Ismail Jabbarzadeh and Mohammad Ali Najafi also attended the meeting.
Azerbaijan’s trade turnover with Iran amounted to 122.08 million manats in January-August 2016, which is 65 percent more than the figure for the eight months of 2015, according to the State Customs Committee of Azerbaijan.
