The opening of a representative office of Azerbaijan Railways CJSC in Kazakhstan is aimed at further development of relations between the two countries in the railway sphere, Javid Gurbanov, head of Azerbaijan Railways, told reporters Oct. 10 in Baku.

“Kazakhstan has made significant progress in the railway sector and big investments are invested in it. In 2015, 1.2 million containers from China were transported through Kazakhstan,” said Gurbanov. “Therefore, we need to study the country’s experience in this area.”

“Moreover, after the commissioning of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway, we plan to transport cargos from Kazakhstan to Turkey and Europe,” he noted adding that therefore, it is very important for Azerbaijan Railways to have a representative office in Kazakhstan.

Gurbanov also noted that an Azerbaijani logistics center, which has been built by Azersun Holding, will be opened in coming days in Kazakhstan.

Azerbaijan Railways has representative offices in Russia, Georgia, Turkey, Ukraine and other countries.
