Dubai may become a hub for the export of Azerbaijani goods to other countries of the Middle East, Head of Azerbaijan Export and Investment Promotion Foundation (AZPROMO) Rufat Mammadov told reporters in Baku Oct. 20.

“The UAE is a traditional partner of Azerbaijan, and our companies show great interest for the Middle East,” Mammadov said. “Given this interest and numerous appeals, we are planning to organize an export mission to Dubai within the mechanisms to promote the brand “Made in Azerbaijan”.”

“The main objective is to export our products to Dubai, as well as other countries of the region through Dubai,” he said.

He said that Arab companies show interest for Azerbaijani products, mainly for production of agricultural and food companies, in particular for fruit juices produced in the country.

“Considering this, we also plan to put the country stand under the brand “Made in Azerbaijan” at one of the largest exhibitions of the region, Gulf Food, in 2017,” Mammadov said.

The trade turnover between Azerbaijan and the UAE amounted to $57.82 million as of Jan.-Sept.2016, which is 23.8 percent more than in the same period of 2015, according to the State Customs Committee of Azerbaijan.

As many as 223 companies from the UAE operate in Azerbaijan, and the volume of direct investments by the UAE in the non-oil sector of Azerbaijan's economy is approximately $659 million.
