Kazakh Metallurgical Kazakhmys Corporation increased copper cathode equivalent production by 2 percent or 3,400 tons in the Jan. – Sept. of 2016 compared to the same period of 2015 to 163,800 tons, the company reported.
The average copper grade in the ore in this period amounted to 0.95 percent compared to 0.88 percent in the same period of 2015.
The company processed 22.1 million tons of ore in Jan.–Sept. of 2016.
Kazakhmys Corporation plans to produce 224,400 tons of copper cathode equivalent in 2016.
Kazakhmys is the largest copper producer in Kazakhstan and one of bigger copper producers in the world. Copper operations are fully integrated from mining ore through to the production of finished copper cathode and rod. The corporation produces copper from 10 mines in Kazakhstan.
