Housing commissioning ups in Azerbaijan

Some 194,400 square meters of housing were commissioned in Azerbaijan in September 2016 compared to 157,880 square meters in September 2015, the Azerbaijani State Statistics Committee said in a report as of January-September 2016.

According to the report, over 1,205,500 square meters of housing have been commissioned in Azerbaijan since early 2016, that is, 9.2 percent less than in the same period of 2015.

According to the report, some 68.5 percent of the total volume of construction work accounted for primary construction, reconstruction and expansion, 11.7 percent - overhaul, 4.1 percent - current repair and 15.7 percent - other construction work.

Some 86.7 percent of the total volume of construction work was carried out by non-state construction companies, the report said.

According to the report, around 96,500 people were involved in the Azerbaijani construction sector in January-August 2016.

The average monthly salary in the construction sector amounted to 805.4 manats (official exchange rate on October 24 is 1.6151 AZN/USD), which is 20.7 percent more than in the same period of 2015, the report said.

According to the report, the average monthly salary in the state sector reached 519.3 manats (4.6 percent growth for the year), while in private sector – 916.4 manats (25.7 percent growth).

The amount of salaries in the area of building construction increased by 13.6 percent up to 611.8 manats, specialized construction - by 26.5 percent up to 1.498,6 manats in January-August 2016 compared to the same period of 2015, the report said.
