The building materials worth 251.6 million manats (official exchange rate on October 24 is 1.6151 AZN/USD) were produced in January-September 2016, or 16.2 percent less than in January-September 2015, the Azerbaijani State Statistics Committee said in a report as of January-September 2016.
Azerbaijan produced 1.73 million tons of cement in January-September 2016 (a 16.3-percent decrease compared to the same period of 2015), 107,100 tons of gypsum plaster (a 27.1-percent decrease), the report said.
According to the report, Azerbaijan also produced 355,600 tons of ready-mixed concrete (a 53 percent decrease), 63,000 cubic meters of precast concrete building structures (a 3.5 times growth), 5,490 tons of processed marble, travertine, alabaster and items made of them (a 41.3 percent decrease).
Some 194,400 square meters of housing were commissioned in Azerbaijan in September 2016 compared to 157,880 square meters in September 2015, the report said.
According to the report, over 1,205,500 square meters of housing have been commissioned in Azerbaijan since early 2016, that is, 9.2 percent less than in the same period of 2015.
