ADB vice president can visit Azerbaijan in mid-November

Vice President of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) Wencai Zhang, who is responsible for operations in the South Asia Department and the Central and West Asia Department of the bank, can visit Baku in mid-November 2016, Azerbaijan Country Director for the ADB Nariman Mannapbekov told Trend Nov. 3.

“The exact date of the visit and the issues to be discussed within its framework are not revealed for now, but tentatively the visit will take place in mid-November,” Mannapbekov said. “In addition, we plan to hold a press conference dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the ADB within this visit.”

ADB was founded in 1966 for reducing poverty in Asia and the Pacific through inclusive economic growth, environmentally sustainable growth, and regional integration and has 67 members. The bank is headquartered in Manila, the capital of the Philippines.

Azerbaijan became an ADB member on Dec. 22, 1999. The country’s share in the bank’s capital is 0.5 percent.
