Baku, Azerbaijan, Dec. 28

By Maksim Tsurkov – Trend:

Active bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Belarus were the main outcome of 2016, said Gennadiy Ahramovich, ambassador of the Republic of Belarus to Azerbaijan, at a press conference in Baku Dec. 28.

“We expect further expansion of cooperation in 2017,” said Ahramovich.

Speaking about the negative impact of the crisis on the world trade, the ambassador said that due to the crisis there is a decline in the Azerbaijan-Belarus trade turnover, which amounted to about $104 million in January-October 2016.

“This is a decline of almost 50 percent as compared to 2015,” Ahramovich said.

Further he noted that Belarus hails the significant growth in Azerbaijani exports which increased 3.7 times in 2016.

“We seek to balance trade relations,” the envoy added.
