Laboratory for testing of cotton yarn opened in Uzbekistan

The SGS (Societe Generale de Surveillance) international company opened the first Uster laboratory for testing of cotton yarn in Uzbekistan.

The laboratory received ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation in Tashkent, according to the company.

The laboratory will test the yarn produced at the enterprises of Uzbekistan according to such criteria as linear density, the metric number, the unevenness, the coefficient of variation, the number of defects, the content of foreign particles etc.

The task of conquering new markets and expanding the scope of production export has been greatly facilitated for the spinners of Uzbekistan since the opening of an independent laboratory for testing of cotton yarn in accordance with the international standards, the company said.

Light industry is one of the key sectors of the Uzbek economy.

Uzbekistan ranks sixth in the world in terms of cotton production, and fifth on its export. About 3,500 tons of raw cotton are annually grown and 1.1 million tons of cotton fiber produced in Uzbekistan.
