Deposits at Kazakh banks increase by 13%

Kazakh banks increased the volume of deposits by 13.7 percent to 18.16 trillion tenges (324 tenge = $1) in 2016

Kazakh banks increased the volume of deposits by 13.7 percent to 18.16 trillion tenges (324 tenge = $1) in 2016, the National bank said in a message.
Deposits of legal entities increased by 12.5 percent to almost 10.33 trillion tenges in 2016, deposits of individuals increased by 15.4 percent to almost 7.84 trillion tenge.

Deposits in national currency tenge increased by 66.4 percent to 8.24 trillion tenge, in foreign currency decreased by 9.9 percent to 9.93 trillion tenge in the reporting period.

The share of deposits in tenge increased from 31 percent in Dec. 2015 to 45.4 percent in Dec. 2016. The share of deposits in foreign currency decreased from 69.9 percent in January 2016 to 54.6 percent as of the end on 2016.
