Kazakh banks increase funding of manufacturing sector

Kazakh banks increased funding of manufacturing sector by 227.7 billion tenges (324 tenges = $1) in 2016, Kazakhstan’s National Bank said in a message.

The banks increased lending to the trade sector by 135 billion tenges and to agriculture by 28 billion tenges in the reporting period.

The total loans issued to the economy increased by 1.5 percent to 12.86 trillion tenges.

Out of all the loans issued in 2016, 21.6 percent fell on trade, 14.3 percent – on industry, 7.4 percent – on construction, 5.3 percent – on agriculture.

The loans issued in national currency increased by 3.2 percent and stood at 8.67 trillion tenges, while those issued in foreign currency dropped by 1.9 percent and stood at 4.19 trillion tenges.

The long-term lending to economy by the banks increased by 0.1 percent and stood at 10.53 trillion tenges in 2016, while the short-term lending increased by 8.2 percent and totaled 2.33 trillion tenges.

The loans issued to legal entities in 2016 rose by 3.6 percent to 8.82 trillion tenges, while the loans issued to individuals dropped by 2.9 percent and stood at 4.04 trillion tenges.

The lending to small business entities in Kazakhstan increased by 50.7 percent and stood at 3.1 trillion tenges in 2016, making up 24.1 percent of the total volume of lending to the economy.
