By Azad Hasanli – Trend:

The International Finance Corporation (IFC) is preparing a new project for Azerbaijan on the development of digital service channels in the financial sector, Teymur Heybatov, project officer in the IFC Azerbaijan-Central Asia Financial Markets Infrastructure Advisory Services Project, told Trend.

As the project is currently being developed, not all areas it will cover have been determined yet, according to him.

“It is planned to include mobile banking and payment for various services [public services and others] by mobile operators in the areas that the project will cover,” Heybatov said.

He added that the IFC will not allocate a loan for the project implementation but will provide technical assistance.

Azerbaijan joined the International Finance Corporation in 1995. As of today, IFC has allocated more than $460 million for projects in Azerbaijan, covering financial services, infrastructure and production. Besides, the corporation allocated $250 million for the Baku – Tbilisi – Ceyhan pipeline.
