Ore extraction up in Kazakhstan

Kazakhstan increased ore extraction in January 2017 as compared to January 2016, said the Kazakh Statistics Committee.

Iron ore extraction in Kazakhstan during the period increased by 32.1 percent to 3.02 million tons.

Copper ore extraction increased by 26 percent to 7.18 million tons.

Production of crude steel increased by 4.7 percent to 369,116 tons, while production of flat rolled steel fell by 8.6 percent to 182,732 tons.

Production of unprocessed zinc has increased by 0.6 percent to hit 27,767 tons.

Refined copper production decreased by 6.2 percent to 32,208 tons in January 2017 as compared to January 2016.

Production of raw aluminum has increased by 2.3 percent to 148,986 tons.

Production of ferroalloys has increased by 11.9 percent to 167,504 tons.
