Demand for Azerbaijani products in the world has increased after creation of the www.azexport.az portal, which presents information about the Azerbaijani-made products, Vusal Gasimli, director of the Center for Analysis of Economic Reforms and Communications, said at a briefing in Baku Feb. 24.

“Every week we receive $10 million worth of orders via this portal for locally made products,” noted Gasimli. “This shows high interest for Azerbaijani products.”

The www.azexport.az portal, integrated with the most popular electronic trading platforms, makes the Azerbaijani products available to potential buyers from anywhere in the world.

Gasimli emphasized that over the past two months, the greatest number of orders for Azerbaijani products was received from China, Russia, Ukraine, Turkey, Iran, as well as several European and Arab countries.

“Food and agriculture products, various kinds of drinks and furniture are of the greatest interest. Moreover, the decline in the manat rate against foreign currencies has increased the competitiveness of certain products,” said Gasimli. “Earlier there was little demand for such products as chicken meat and eggs, but now we receive a large number of orders [on them].”

The state portal received export offers worth $4.63 million during January 2017.

Azerbaijan exported goods worth $804.6 million in January 2017, or 25.7 percent more than in January 2016, according to Azerbaijan’s State Customs Committee.
