Vietnam plans to launch cargo supplies through Kazakhstan to other Central Asian states and Europe via railways until the end of 2017, Deputy Head of the Vietnam Railways Phan Quoc Anh said during the visit to Kazakhstan, Kazakhstan Railways said in a message.

It is also planned to launch direct supplies of Kazakh grain and other goods to Vietnam without transshipment in the Chinese port of Lianyungang.
The Vietnam Railways official noted that it is expected launch the first test train on this route in 2017, and later the train will run on a regular basis.

According to Phan Quoc Anh, Vietnam has a free trade agreement with the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU), which includes Kazakhstan, Russia, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan and Armenia, facilitating the movement of goods from Vietnam through Kazakhstan to Eastern and Western Europe.
He also noted that ASEAN countries could be interested in goods transit to Europe via China and Kazakhstan.
