Turkey, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan will launch a tourism project called ‘The Great Silk Road’ at the Turkic Council in April 2017, Marat Igaliyev, director of the tourism industry department of the Kazakh Ministry for Investment and Development, wrote in a Facebook post.

Completing the project route, covering the four countries’ territories, will take 12 days.

On the Kazakh section of the route, tourists will arrive in Almaty, where they will visit Shymbulak Ski Resort, Kok-Tobe Mountain and Kolsai Lakes, Igaliyev wrote.

The tourists will then go to the ancient city of Turkestan, which was named the cultural capital of the Turkic world in 2017.

The tourists will be able to visit the Zhambyl Region and the sacred place of foundation of the Kazakh Khanate – the Aulie Ata, Igaliyev said.
