Azerbaijan’s goods export up

Azerbaijan exported goods worth $1.65 billion in January-February 2017, that is, 36.64 percent more than in the same period of 2016, according to a report of the country’s State Customs Committee.

The share of public sector in exports amounted to about $1.47 billion, while $161.72 million accounted for private sector and $23.6 million for individuals.

During the period, Azerbaijan exported mainly oil and oil products, gas, plastic and products made from it, as well as fruits and vegetables.

In the meantime, imports exceeded $971.97 million, which is 0.44 percent less than in January-February 2016.

The share of public sector in imports was $102.56 million, while the private sector accounted for $814.8 million and individuals for $54.6 million.

During the period, Azerbaijan mainly imported various vehicles and mechanisms, electronic equipment, ferrous metals, plastic, wood, sugar, vegetables and fruits.

Azerbaijan’s foreign trade operations increased by 20.09 percent and totaled $2.6 billion in January-February 2017 as compared to the same period of 2016. Positive balance amounted to $682 million during the period, while the surplus of trade balance was $243.6 million in January-February 2016.

During the period, Azerbaijan exported 1,305 types of goods and imported 5,402 types of goods. In January-February 2017, 137 countries were Azerbaijan’s foreign trade partners. In total, 4,273 legal entities and individuals (2,681 legal entities and 1,592 individuals) participated in the country’s foreign economic activity during the period.
