Georgia delays launch of Shuakhevi hydro power plant

Georgia extends terms of Shuakhevi hydro power plant construction in Adjara region.
According to the updated document on the renewable energy projects published May 24 by Georgian Energy Ministry, the construction Shuakhevi HPP with an installed capacity of 178 MW and annual generation of 436.5 GWh will be completed in November of 2017.

The HPP is expected to be launched in January of 2018. Previously Georgian Energy Ministry planned to complete the construction work on the project in 2016.

The project worth $400 million is being implemented by Adjaristsqali Georgia company.

By the end of 2021 one more renewable energy project – Nenskra HPP is expected to be build and launched in Georgia.
This HPP, located in Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti region, will have an installed capacity of 280 MW and annual generation of 1,200 GWh. The project worth $1 billion is being implemented by JSC Partnership Fund.
