Unrecognized countries cannot be admitted to international organizations, Aydin Aliyev, chairman of the Azerbaijani State Customs Committee, said on the sidelines of the 65th meeting of heads of the CIS customs bodies in Baku June 14.

Aliyev was commenting on Kosovo's accession to the World Customs Organization (WCO).

He added that Kosovo's accession to the WCO is being discussed at today's meeting because this issue will be raised at the WCO meeting next month.

“This issue is one of the main issues at today’s meeting,” he said “According to Azerbaijan’s and Russia’s positions, the unrecognized countries cannot be admitted to international organizations.”

“Improving the legal framework in the customs sphere and transit cargo transportation will also be discussed at the meeting,” he said.

“Moreover, a number of bilateral agreements, including those between Azerbaijan and Russia, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, will be signed following the meeting,” Aydin Aliyev said.
