Over 650,000 tons of cargo sent via Kazakhstan-Turkmenistan-Iran railway in 2016

Over 650,000 tons of cargo was transported via the Kazakhstan-Turkmenistan-Iran railway in 2016, Kazakhstan Temir Zholy, the Kazakh national railway company, told Trend June 19.

About 300,000 tons of cargo was transported via the Kazakhstan-Turkmenistan-Iran railway in January-May 2017, according to the company.

“Transportation of grain, ferrous metals, chemical and mineral fertilizers, oil cargo from Kazakhstan and Russia to Turkmenistan and Iran constitute the bulk of this volume,” the company said.

The Kazakhstan-Turkmenistan-Iran railway was commissioned December 2014 at a solemn ceremony with the participation of the presidents of the three countries.
