RUSSIAN SHIPYARD BUILDS NEW VESSEL FOR AZERI SHIPPER

Russia’s Krasnoye Sormovo shipyard, in the regional city of Nizhniy Novgorod, has started the implementation of the project #19619, envisioning the building of two tankers for the Caspian Shipping Company (Kaspar).

The present work is done in the framework of Kaspar’s corresponding order formalized with the signing of a relevant agreement between the parties in January 2005.

In accordance with the appropriate agreement, the Russian shipyard has to supply the first tanker to Kaspar by the end of September, with the other vessel expected in October 2006.

The Krasnoye Sormovo is capable of building ships under-15,000 tons displacement. The yard also builds ships which are involved in the exploration and development of hydrocarbons accumulated beneath the sea shelf, as well as assemble facilities and blocks for offshore drilling platforms.

Kaspars tanker, of 13,000 tons displacement, has been designed for the transportation of crude oil and petroleum products (with the temperature of flaring at 60C), has double boarding (to prevent oil from spilling in case of accidents). The tanker will be outfitted with 12 tanks, with the aggregate storage capacity of 14,700 cubic meters, and will have double-boarded and double-bottom water ballast tanks. The ship вЂ" 152 meters long and 17.3 meters wide, with the corresponding depth of 10.5 meters, with the settlement of 6.99 meters вЂ" will be capable of making 10 knots and transporting two different crude brands at the same time. It will have a crew of 21 and 20 days endurance period.
