AUDIT STRUCTURES COULD CONTRIBUTE TO THE EXPANSION OF ECONOMIC TIES BETWEEN AZERBAIJAN AND RUSSIA

The role of audit structures in the enhancement of Azerbaijan-Russia trade & commerce relations has been discussed at the second joint meeting of the board of Azerbaijan’s and Russia’s Chambers of Accounts, in Moscow, June 29 through July 2.

The Azerbaijani delegation to the meeting has been headed by the chairman of the Chamber of Accounts, Namig Nasrullayev.

At the meeting, there has been signed a protocol of future bilateral cooperation between the Chambers of Accounts of Azerbaijan and Russia in the field of financial inspection and audit. The document also deals with the introduction of several joint measures in the action plans of both structures for 2006.

In particular, there has been proposed to carry out a joint inspection of energy supplies between Azerbaijan and Russia in 2004-2005, as well as the efficiency of expenditures of the Russian budget for the maintenance of the Gabala Information & Analytical Center (former radar and reconnaissance station, Daryal RLS), including the expenditures of the receipts to Azerbaijan for the operation of the station, and the audit of expenditures approved for the protection of Caspian biovariety.
