COMMODITY CIRCULATION WITH IRAN REACHES 500 MILLION U.S. DOLLARS

The amount of commodity turnover between Azerbaijan and Iran has reached 500 million U.S. dollars, according to an Iranian envoy.

Addressing the roundtable, Azerbaijan-Iranian relations and their development, on July 6, Iranian ambassador Afshar Suleymani expressed satisfaction with the present state of political, economic and cultural relations between the countries.

However, “there is a huge potential for further deepening the cooperation” between the countries, Suleymani added. “These relations will be enhanced yet broader during the tenure of the newly elected president of the Islamic Republic of Iran (Mr. Ahmadinejad).”

Mr. Suleymani thinks that the development of relations with Azerbaijan is a consequence of “common borders and interests of our nations.”

At the event, organized by the youth union of democratic reformists, the Iranian ambassador also stressed the current long-term agreement on cooperation and partnership, referred to an extensive contract & legal base of regulation of bilateral relations.

“Tehran is ready to mobilize the existing potential to develop political, economic and cultural relations with Azerbaijan,” Mr. Suleymani concluded.
