The Agency for State Amelioration and Water Economy under the Agriculture Ministry plans to carry out a project directed at preventing the floods. The Agency said that at present the clarification work in this direction is underway.
The Agency noted that the project envisages the construction of dams for preventing over-floods in the regions.
The project with the budget of around $30m will be financed by the Asian Development Bank.
Besides, the agency is involved in drilling 28 wells with regard to improve the water supply to Agdam, Agjabadi, Beylagan, Barda, Terter, Fuzuli, Goranboy, Shaki, Gakh, Zakatala, Tovuz, Khanlar, Shamkir, Balakan, Samukh and Imishli.
The well drilling will be implemented at the expense of funds allocated out of the public budget at the order of the Cabinet of Ministers dated 1 February 2005.
