SCC REVEALS OVER 250 VIOLATIONS IN 2005

In January to June of 2005 the State Customs Committee (SCC) has revealed 2527 violations, or 1227 facts more than 2004, and 81 people in this respect. The contraband detained in the border cost 1,482,3bn mantas ($315,181).

The customs bodies detained 12,915kg of gold wares, 68,232kg of silver, 30 karats of brilliant stone, with the total price of $15,510. As a result of measures taken under the Program on combat of drug addiction and drug and psychotropic substances the SCC revealed 33 facts of drug trafficking and detained 15,722kg of drug, including 5,563kg of teryek, 4,872kg of marihuana, 5kg hashish, 284g of heroin, 110 psychotropic substances ( in the form of ampoules, capsules and tablets).

Over 6 months of 2005 a total of 305 legal entities, of them 88 are foreigners, and 2083 physical entities, including 365 foreigners, were made answerable for 2449 facts of customs violation.

Over 1,321bn manats fine ($280,884) was imposed on the facts, while goods worth 750.4m were confiscated.

Besides, 60 liters of spirits, 2004 bottles of alcohol drinks, over 2,262 million packages of cigarettes manufactured abroad were revealed in accordance with the presidential decree on additional measures for regulation of production, import and sale of alcohol drinks and tobacco products.
