75,000 JOBS OPEN IN AZERBAIJAN IN 2005

A total of 75,000 jobs opened in Azerbaijan in 2005, including 38,000 permanent jobs, Arif Valiyev, the head of the State Statistics Committee (SSC), said on July 18, Trend reports.

According to Valiyev, 253 jobs have opened in Azerbaijan since October 2003, including 132,000 permanent jobs. It was possible after the opening of new enterprises, and expansion of the activities of some companies and enterprises.

The head of the SSC said that the unemployed people in the country grew 2% as compared to 2004 and comprised 56,393. Valiyev noted that the level of poverty in Azerbaijan now is equal to around 40%.
