IMF ASSESSES POSITIVELY COOPERATION WITH AZERBAIJAN

IMF assesses positively the state of affairs in cooperation with Azerbaijan, the IMF deputy managing director Augustin Carstens stated on 22 July in Baku at the meeting with journalists, Trend reports.

Carstens noted, that it is the first visit to Azerbaijan for him, during which he had private meetings with the President, Prime Minister, Minister of Finance, the Minister of Economic Development and the chairman of the National Bank of Azerbaijan.

According to him, the progress in the economy development is observed in Azerbaijan. В"In the current June we completed the last survey on the Program of economic development and poverty reduction. The optimistic development of events is observed in Azerbaijan. The tempos of economic growth are high.

Carstens noted, that IMF is ready to collaborate with Azerbaijan as the trustworthy consultant and advisor. According to him, what causes concern is the inflation issue and it needs regulating for the moment for supporting the financial system. Coordination of he monetary-credit policy is necessary for that.

He also noted, that the present methods of the country’s business administration he finds constructive, having underlined, that IMF is tuned optimistically and Azerbaijan has impressive results.
