CIS, BALTIC RAILWAY EXPERTS TO MEET IN DUSHANBE

A meeting of the railway experts of CIS and Baltic countries to be held in Dushanbe, Tajikistan, from 30 August to 1 September will focus on tariff policy for 2006, the Azerbaijan State Railway Department (ASRD) told Trend.

Husamaddin Malikov, the vice-head of the Tariff Transport Service Department of the ASRD, will represent Azerbaijan in the gathering.

The participants in the gathering will design a draft tariff policy on cargo transportation on the base of proposals offered by the sides.

The key objective of the meeting is to balance the tariff policy of CIS and Baltic countries for transit cargo, which is sure to increase cargo deliveries. The final document on tariffs was adopted in Tallinn in October 2005.

Attending the event in Dushanba will be representatives from Azerbaijan, Belorus, Armenia, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan, Ukraine, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania.
